About

Ashley and her husband Dan
Hello, and thanks for visiting The Changebase. I’m really glad you decided to stop by.
About Ashley
I’m a Corporate Social Responsibility strategy and communications specialist with a combined 7 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, corporate philanthropy, marketing, and social media.
I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, and I’m happy to say I’ve just moved back after spending the last two years in Boston for business school at Boston University School of Management. As an MBA I had the opportunity to consult with a number of corporate, agency and social enterprise clients on topics including sustainability strategy and reporting, CSR communications, stakeholder engagement, brand management, and consumer marketing.
While my interest in social and community change spans a number of topics, these days I’m most curious about how companies can create relationships with and engage their stakeholders in dialogue through corporate social responsibility programs. I get especially excited about “win-win” opportunities that allow businesses to be good corporate citizens while also meeting their strategic and financial goals.
In addition to blogging about CSR and social change, I enjoy being outside in nature, exploring farmer’s markets with friends and family, and eating whatever delicious food my husband decides to make.
And did I mention I’m on the job hunt? I’m currently seeking CSR or marketing opportunities with consumer brands, agencies or social enterprises in the San Francisco Bay Area. To learn more about what I’m looking for, check out a recent blog post I wrote on my search, as well as my LinkedIn profile to learn more about my skills and experience. And of course feel free to contact me with any questions.
About The Changebase
I launched The Changebase in May 2009 for a few reasons:
My passion is change. I’m inspired daily by stories of people – individuals or communities – working together to identify innovative solutions to some of our world’s biggest problems. The Changebase serves as a platform to share those stories.
Change can be scary. The more I learn about the challenges facing our world, the more daunting things can feel. But I’ve found that by talking about these issues – and addressing what we action we can take – making change can be a lot less overwhelming, and a lot more powerful. The Changebase is our resource for talking about what needs to be done.
Change can also be fun. I love nothing more than walking into a room full of people who are motivated, energized, and excited to make change in their communities. In fact, today’s changemakers are a lively, intelligent, and friendly bunch. The Changebase connects ideas with people, questions with answers, and solutions with problems.
So now that you know what The Changebase is all about, where do you go from here? I’ve got a couple of pointers:
On the main page of The Changebase, you’ll find articles, questions, and ideas posted by me. I try to write as often as I can and I’d love your comments.
Beyond that, check out The Basics and the Creating tabs to learn about change and hear stories from other changemakers out there – who knows, maybe you’ll be so inspired you’ll want to share your own story too! The Promoting tab is all about the people, products, and organizations that I love. These folks are doing innovative and exciting work, and deserve these shout-outs. And the Events tab lists events that I plan to attend personally (or ones that I wish I could attend!).
Finally, don’t forget the Contact page – I love hearing from readers and welcome your ideas, thoughts, critiques, or suggestions.
Thanks again for checking out The Changebase!
